What Are BMW Inspections 1 & 2

Keep Your BMW in Peak Condition

Every vehicle needs routine maintenance, and your BMW is no exception. But you may not know that there are actually two types of assessments you need to have completed: BMW Inspection I and II. Each of these examinations is critical, but what they cover and when they are needed are dependent on your vehicle’s mileage and condition. If you live in Arcadia, California, VJ’s Auto Service is staffed by ASE-certified technicians who can complete both inspections and make any repairs your BMW may need. If you’re curious about what’s covered in each of these services, we break them down below!

Inspection I

The BMW Inspection I is a relatively basic inspection that you’ll need to have at least once a year or every 30,000 miles, whichever comes first (the exact mileage is specific to your vehicle’s model). During this assessment, our technicians will follow a specific checklist to make sure every part is in good condition. Specifically, the inspection can be broken into three main components: undercarriage, engine, and body/electrical. This will include things like an oil change, topping off fluids, and checking parts. Unlike an Inspection II, this is more of a basic checkup to ensure there aren’t any major issues.

Inspection II

The BMW Inspection II includes everything found in Inspection I, but it also includes some extra services, such as spark plug replacement, air filter replacement, and inspecting for rust. You won’t need this service as often since most things are covered in your more standard maintenance check, but it’s still just as critical. You’ll need to have your Inspection II completed roughly every 60,000 miles, but this too depends on your vehicle’s model.
